Percy Harvins playing status still uncertain
Heading into the NFL regular season, the Minnesota Vikings will have a number of questions surrounding their franchise as they still don’t know whether or not Brett Favre will be coming back or how healthy your top two wide receivers will be moving forward.
Obviously, their main concern right now is the health of Brett Favre and his surgically repaired ankle as he is the heart and soul of this team right now, but Favre won’t make much of an impact if he returns and doesn’t have Percy Harvin or Sidney Rice as his top targets downfield.

The biggest concern of the two wideouts is Sidney Rice right now as he could very well sit out the first game against the New Orleans Saints which will be a rematch of last season’s NFC championship game. Without Rice as the Vikings best downfield threat, the Vikings offense will take a serious hit as they may have to go with more of a running game with Adrian Peterson getting a few more carries out of the backfield.
Even though the Vikings offense will take a big hit without Rice, they will definitely miss last season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in wide receiver Percy Harvin as well if his migraines keep him on the sidelines.
With Adrian Peterson coming out of the backfield and with Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin as Brett Favre’s primary targets in the air attack, the Minnesota Vikings have arguably one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL and could very well be headed all the way to the Super Bowl this season ifthese guys come back healthy and are ready to go.
As intimidating as these players can be to opposing defenses, if they aren’t healthy they won’t be much good to the Vikings in their campaign to win a ring.

Towards the end of last season, Percy Harvin dealt with the same migraines, but battled through the pain and was still able to play well on a weekly basis. It is uncertain whether or not he will be able to do the same thing this season as a Minnesota Vikings will almost certainly be counting on him once again, but if they continue to affect him enough to keep him on the sidelines, it is possible that wide receiver Bernard Berrain (618 yards, 4 touchdowns) and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe (566 yards, 11 touchdowns) could play bigger roles in the offense.
There is no doubt that Percy Harvin is a vital part of this Minnesota Vikings offense, but he continues to miss time and doesn’t return to the team soon, there is a distinct possibility that he could miss the entire season as Brad Childress and company might decide to go with another option.
Obviously, this is something that the Vikings do not want to do as Harvin is one of the most talented young players on the team and always makes Minnesota better with his presence, but just like a Brett Favre situation, they can wait forever.
