Matt Hasselbeck will get the start for the Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks used to be crop of the NFC Conference as they dominated opposing defenses with a solid running game and potent passing attack, but times have changed in Seattle as players have come and gone and a lot of changes been made as this team has gone through drastic rebuilding process.
Fortunately, the struggling Seattle Seahawks franchise may have finally found the head coach to replace Mike Holmgren in former USC Trojans signal caller Pete Carroll. It has been a rough season to say the least for the Seahawks with Carroll calling the shots on the sidelines, but Seattle was able to stay and win the NFC West division title with a losing record of 7-9.

Obviously, winning a division title with a losing record is nothing to be proud of, but they still a chance to redeem themselves in the first round of the playoffs when they’ll play host to the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints at Qwest Field.
Although no one is giving Seattle Seahawks a chance even make a game of this matchup with the defending champs, Pete Carroll will have his boys motivated and ready to take the field this weekend as he knows that his team has nothing to lose and everything win.
One thing that everyone has been asking about the Seattle Seahawks this week has been who will get the start at quarterback. It doesn’t happen very often if ever, but the Seahawks have a quarterback controversy right now with veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck battling the up and comer Charlie Whitehurst for the starting position under center.

There is no question that Hasselbeck definitely has the experience when it comes playoff games and has played in a Super Bowl and countless playoff games for the Seattle Seahawks, but he is not the quarterback he used to be and is really starting to show signs of age this season. That being said Carroll has started to mix it up with Whitehurst playing in last game against the division rival St. Louis Rams.
Results of last game were pretty promising for Charlie Whitehurst as he led the team to victory over the St. Louis Rams which ultimately crowned the Seattle Seahawks as NFC West division champions and punched their ticket into the playoffs. With that win and the fact that Matt Hasselbeck is still a bit banged up, the consensus was that Whitehurst would get the start against the Saints this weekend, but that’s not the case as Pete Carroll has decided to go with his veteran quarterback instead.
Whether or not this is good news remains to be seen, but Hasselbeck’s experience may be just enough to give his team a chance to dethrone the champs on their home field in Seattle with his victoriously one of the toughest places to play in the NFL.
