NBA Matchup: Miami Heat @ San Antonio Spurs
Miami Heat @ San Antonio Spurs Fri. March 4, 2011 9:30 p.m. EST
Coming into this NBA regular season, the Miami Heat made more big moves in the off-season than any other team in only. Not only were they able to re-sign their face the franchise in Dwyane Wade. But they also got their hands on arguably the best player in the league in LeBron James and one of the best players on the block in Chris Bosh.

These three signings for unprecedented to say the least and took everyone by surprise as no one believes that three superstars would want to play altogether in the same place sharing the spotlight. Once the surprise of this forming of the big three in Miami started to wear off, reality set in and whether or not these three All-Stars could actually play together something that got a lot of talk around the league.
Even if this the team did struggle, like they did in the beginning of the NBA regular season, everyone knew they’d still be a playoff bound team in the high seed in the Eastern Conference. As a right now, Miami Heat are sitting in the third seed in the East, but they are by no means comfortable as the Chicago Bulls are right on the heels and could very well surpassed them if LeBron James and company start to struggle.
With three losses in the last four games, the Miami Heat are in serious danger of losing their grip on the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Not only were these losses big in terms of positioning in the East, but three losses were against winning teams in the Chicago Bulls (93-89), New York Knicks (91-86) and the Orlando Magic (99-96).
The one reoccurring trend that has happen with the Miami Heat over the entire NBA regular season has been their inability to beat the best teams in league. The weak and under .500 teams stand no chance against Dwyane Wade’s squad as they don’t seem to face the Miami Heat all that much, but when they face the best of the best they struggle and that might be a sign of things to come in the playoffs.

The teams that the Miami Heat should concentrate on competing against are in the East obviously like the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics, but they will face a true test t
his Friday when they go up against arguably the best team in the league in the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs may be without their starting point guard as Tony Parker went down with a calf injury recently which will keep him out as
much as a month, but San Antonio is still as tough as they come in the NBA right now and should give Miami yet another tough game.
As of right now, the Miami Heat are the underdogs coming into this matchup as the San Antonio Spurs have been favored with a -1.5 point spread.
The Heat might be able to give the Spurs a run for their money, but in the end San Antonio should get another solid win over a good team.
