Plaxico Burress could be headed back to New York
The New York Giants were considered amongst the best teams in the NFL a few years back when they made it all the way to the Super Bowl and shocked everyone by taking down Tom Brady and the undefeated New England Patriots to win their first Super Bowl title in the Eli Manning era.
Coming off their win over the Patriots in the Super Bowl, the Giants convinced many people that they were now a serious force to be reckoned with in the NFC Conference and a perennial Super Bowl title contender.

Unfortunately, their success didn’t last long as they have struggled to get back to form since 2008, but despite missing the playoffs last season due to the Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East division and the Philadelphia Eagles clinching a playoff spot, the New York Giants are still considered one of the better teams in the NFC Conference.
Last season may have been a forgettable year for Eli Manning and company, but the Giants still might have some hope for the future as they are flirting with the idea of bringing back arguably the best wide receiver of the last half decade or so in Plaxico Burress.
A couple years ago, the former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was sentenced to do two years for on a felony weapons charge after he accidently shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub. Even though the charge and time in prison was thought to be excessive, Burress has recently applied for work release and could be on his way out of prison for good behavior.
It has been rumored that if Burress does get out of jail earlier than expected that the New York Giants might be interested in bringing him back as they are in desperate need of a wide receiver of Burress’ caliber.

Obviously, being two years older and two years out of the game, Burress may no longer be able to hack it in the NFL, but if the one-time Super Bowl champ can still play at a high level like Randy Moss (33) and Terrell Owens (36) have been able to do while over 30 there may be a place for him on the Giants roster.
This is without doubt good news for Burress, but still leaves the New York Giants without a big-name wideout next season and he might not be able to join the team until later in the season or maybe even next year.
In the meantime, the New York Giants will try and make do with the roster they have as try and compete in a very competitive NFC Conference.
With the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints, the New York Giants won’t have much chance of reaching the Super Bowl next season, but they just stand much chance back in the 2007-2008 season either and we all saw how that turned out!
