Monday Night Football: Minnesota at NY Jets

With all the distractions surrounding Brett Favre and the Vikings organizations it still boils down to one thing: football. Favre reached a historic milestone Monday night becoming the first player in the NFL to throw 500 touchdown passes and for 70, 000 passing yards.

He reached that milestone, but failed to deliver a win. It was a win-lose situation for Favre. The 40-year-old quarterback had a terrible game, completing only 41 percent of his passes. Favre managed to throw three touchdowns and finished with 264 yards. Those numbers don’t mean a thing because Favre threw an interception with 1:30 remaining on the clock that led to a touchdown by the Jets’ Dwight Lowery and ended any chances for a comeback.

Favre threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter that brought the Vikings within two.
But the interception by Lowery sealed the Jets fourth straight win.

Favre also fumbled twice early in the game that produced six point for the Jets. The Vikings had to play catch-up all night.

New acquisition Randy Moss caught four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. He provided the deep threat Favre was missing before his arrival. It was Percy Harvin who was Favre’s favorite target. Harvin caught five passes for 97 yards with two touchdowns. He benefited from Moss’ presence on the field.

The Jets pounded the Vikings on the round with LaDainian Tomlinson rushing for 94 yards and Shonn Greene scoring the Jet’s only touchdown.

Arian Peterson managed to scamper 88 yards, but was kept out of the end zone.

Mark Sanchez did his best to outduel Favre for worst passing performance. Sanchez went 21 of 44 for 191 yards with no touchdowns. Unlike Favre, though, he didn’t turn the ball over. He finished the game with a QB rating of 59.9.
