Could Chris Paul be headed to New Jersey?

This past NBA regular season was a complete change of pace for the New Orleans Hornets as they saw their head coach Byron Scott get fired early on and Chris Paul battle injuries throughout the entire season. Not only did the Hornets fail to reach the playoffs, but they also might have to go through some drastic changes this offseason in order to compete in the Western Conference moving forward.

This NBA offseason will be arguably the most intriguing in league history some of the biggest names around the NBA will be available to the highest bidder. Not only could the league look drastically different next year players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade possibly play in different franchises, but there are plenty of other players that could be on the move via trade this summer.

The one player that could be on the move that hasn’t made many headlines lately is the New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul. Last season was an absolute nightmare for the New Orleans Hornets as they went through quite a few unexpected changes that has changed the way the franchise looks and the chances his team have in the Western Conference for the foreseeable future.

Before last season, the Hornets were thought to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference and one NBA franchise that was getting better with every passing season. Not only did they have Chris Paul, who is considered arguably the best point guard in the league today, but they also have some young talent that the team could build around.

Despite still being a playoff team in the Western Conference, New Orleans Hornets no longer seem to be a title contender or serious threat to teams like the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers or the Phoenix Suns in the West. With that being said, some more changes might be on the horizon for this team and one change could be trading away their face the franchise in Chris Paul.

Even though talks of possible trade involving Chris Paul haven’t run rampant throughout the league, Paul might be headed to New Jersey.

Much like the New Orleans Hornets, the New Jersey Nets have slipped nightmare of the season as they became arguably one of the worst NBA franchises in league history with a season resulted that only 12 wins in 82 games.

The Nets may have only won 12 games this past season, but the New Jersey Nets have already started to improve their franchise with a new head coach in Avery Johnson, the third overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and a new Russian billionaire owner in Mikhail Prokhorov. Not only have these changes been a step in the right direction, but Prokhorov has already shown that he will do anything to get this team back to title contender status.

It is still early yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the New Jersey Nets make a play for Chris Paul this offseason has no one wanted might be in somewhat of a desperation mode and could possibly pull the trigger on a trade like this.
