This AFC East division showdown was the ideal matchup between a lockdown defense and an unstoppable offense. With the Jets being one of the best defenses in the league and NFL MVP candidate quarterback Tom Brady having arguably the best season of his Hall of Fame caliber career, this game is almost guaranteed to be as entertaining as it gets and an all-out battle from start to finish.

Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case as the New York Jets were just dominated all game long by a New England Patriots offense that was able to put up 45 points against what was thought to be one of the best defenses in the league this season.

Putting 45 points up against an elite team in the NFL is impressive to say the least, but to do it against Rex Ryan’s lockdown defense was unprecedented and took this New York Jets team completely by surprise.

It’s not the fact that Bill Belichick’s squad had done this before or the fact that Tom Brady was virtually unstoppable under center, but it was the realization that the New England Patriots are without a doubt the best team in the NFL this season and can put points up on the board without much struggle.

A few weeks ago when the New England Patriots traded away arguably their best wide receiver of all time in Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings, a lot of people thought this Patriots team would suffer greatly on the offense of side of the football as they lost their best downfield threat, but the complete opposite has happened as Tom Brady has come into his own in his offenses firing on all cylinders.

Obviously, the addition of wide receiver Deion Branch has helped his offense greatly, but unlike when Randy Moss was here, Branch’s presence is known but not focused on with constant double coverage.

With that being said, Tom Brady has been able to pass the football all over the field to all of his receivers with remarkable efficiency. Not only has Brady’s accuracy become deadly to say the least, but it just seems effortless to this three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback who could very well be on his way to a fourth Super Bowl title and an MVP award at season’s end.

There’s still a ways to go in this NFL regular-season as the New England Patriots have four more games ahead of them, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility to see this team win all four games and had into the playoffs as AFC East division champions.
