NFL Week 13: Falcons @ Bucs

Last season the NFC Conference played host to some of the best teams in the league would dominant squads like Brett Favre’s Minnesota Vikings, Tony Romo’s Dallas Cowboys and the eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, but this season things have changed a bit as there are no dominant teams in the league and the race for the Super Bowl title is wide open.

Even though there are no teams in the league that are threatening to go undefeated heading into the playoffs or are considered near unbeatable, the Atlanta Falcons are arguably the best team in the league right now as they continue to beat some of the best of the best week in and week out.

In Week 12, Matt Ryan and company had to defend their home field once again against a very good Green Bay Packers team led by perennial Pro bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Coming into last week, the consensus around the league that was that the Falcons and Packers game was without a doubt game a week and that turned out to be right on the money as the game came down to the wire.

Even though the Packers threatened to hand Matt Ryan his second loss as the Falcons starter in Atlanta, the Falcons rallied their way to their ninth win of the season and maintained their first place standing in the NFC South division ahead of the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the up and coming Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At this point in time in the NFL regular season, the Atlanta Falcons looked like they are headed for a NFC South division title, but there is still a lot of football to be played and this week they will have their hands full against a very good Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad looking to pull off the upset and gain ground within the division.

As of right now, the Atlanta Falcons are favorites to come out on top in this NFC South division showdown with a -3 point spread. Even though the Falcons are considered to be amongst the elite class in the NFL right now, the Bucs are being taken lightly in this matchup as they definitely have the potential to pull off the upset.

In my opinion, I believe the Atlanta Falcons will run the table from here on out as they should win the rest of their regular season games, but with the exception of their second game against the defending champs in the coming weeks, this game will be one their toughest challenges.

The one thing to watch for in this divisional matchup between these two up and coming football teams will be the young quarterbacks in Matt Ryan and Josh Freeman. Both of these quarterbacks will be around for quite some time and could be perennial Pro Bowlers from here on out, but whichever quarterback can play on top of his game will lead his team to victory this Sunday.
