Can the Green Bay Packers contain Michael Vick?

The NFL regular season has officially come to an end and the playoffs are about to begin the best of the best going head-to-head for a chance to reach the Super Bowl and win a ring.

Of all the playoff matchups that will go down on Wild-card weekend, perhaps the most intriguing matchup will be between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not only do these two teams start this season facing off against one another, but ultimately one of these teams will end the season for the other. The most intriguing part of this massive will be seen to the league’s best quarterbacks going head-to-head in the Packers Aaron Rodgers and the Eagles Michael Vick.

Back in Week 1, the Philadelphia Eagles had Kevin Kolb as their starting quarterback against the Green Bay Packers, but that didn’t last long when Defensive Player of the Year candidate Clay Matthews sacked the Eagles new starting quarterback and sent him to the sidelines with a concussion.

Obviously, when head coach Andy Reid saw his new starting quarterback head to the sidelines and officially get knocked out of the game with a concussion, fear of making a terrible mistake by trading face of the franchise in Donovan McNabb overcame him, but it may have ultimately been a blessing in disguise.

After Kevin Kolb stumbled to the sidelines, former superstar quarterback Michael Vick took the field and the Philadelphia Eagles never looked better as he brought a new dynamic to the offense with a virtually unstoppable mix of run and pass. Not only did it appear that Vick hadn’t lost a step with his lightening quick feet (103 yards rushing), but he had brought a new element to his game as he finally looked just as good with his arm as he did with his feet.

The Eagles were unable to get the best of the Packers in Week 1, but Vick just got better with every single snap he took under center and quickly became a legitimate NFL MVP candidate as the season progressed while leading Philly to yet another NFC East division title.

Ironically enough, the Eagles will face off against the Packers in the first round of the playoffs and Green Bay has just one goal on their mind and that is putting the brakes on Michael Vick.

Even though the Packers have one of the best defenses in the league this season with Clay Matthews leading the way, they will have their work cut out for them as stopping Michael Vick is no easy task. Not only will they have tough time containing him when he gets out of the pocket, but he can be just as deadly with the pass and hooking up with wide receiver DeSean Jackson downfield.

Personally, I don’t think any opposing defense has been able to figure out how to stop Vick, but the Packers have as good of a chance as any. Fortunately for the Eagles though, I believe the NFL MVP candidate will lead them to VICKtory once again as they will almost certainly advance to the next round in my opinion.
