Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher thinks Jets are Super Bowl bound

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the best NFL teams over the past decade or so and have two Super Bowl titles prove it. Not only have they been extremely consistent over the years, but even when they have a down year like they did last season they come back with a vengeance in the following season like they did during this NFL regular season.

Despite missing the playoffs entirely in the Super Bowl title defense last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers came back with a vengeance as they were able to win the AFC North division title and clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs. This was an amazing feat to say the least as they went through some pretty hard times during the NFL off-season due to some off the field issues with their superstar quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Since two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Big Ben violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the versatile QB was suspended for the first four games of the NFL regular season. The initial suspension was six games, but two games were rescinded by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after Big Ben showed that he wanted to rebuild his image and got his life moving in the right direction once again.

Despite missing their superstar quarterback under center and getting a lot of flak around the league as they were no longer considered to be a serious force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference, the Pittsburgh Steelers were basically rejuvenated by all their problems and lost just one of the three games without their starting quarterback.

This was just the beginning of an amazing run for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they did nothing to win football games from here on out. They did lose three more games, but that didn’t matter as they were headed into the playoffs once again.

In their first playoff game, the Pittsburgh Steelers were matched up against their arch rivals in the Baltimore Ravens finished the season with an identical 12-4 record. Even though the Ravens are as tough as they come, especially on the defensive side of the football, the Steelers were resilient as ever and came out with a convincing victory.

Now that the Steelers have advanced to the AFC championship game, they will defend their home field once again against the New York Jets who are one of the few teams to beat Pittsburgh this season.

Ironically enough, despite being a Pittsburgh Steelers legend, former head coach Bill Cowher has said that he thinks the New York Jets will get the best of his former team and advance to the Super Bowl.

Apparently, Bill Cowher was so impressed by the New York Jets win over the New England Patriots last weekend that he is convinced they are the team to beat in the playoffs. Their defense is solid and second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez is starting to come around making this offense a force to be reckoned with.

Whether or not Cowher is right or wrong remains to be seen, but hearing that their former head coach sides would be opposing team can only anger this Pittsburgh Steelers seem heading into the AFC championship game.
