Oakland Raiders promote Hue Jackson to head coach
There is no question that the Oakland Raiders have been arguably one of the worst teams in the NFL ever since they made it to the Super Bowl back in 2002. After the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, the Oakland Raiders head into a downward spiral that seem to just get worse with every passing season as every draft pick and trade made turnouts ultimately be terrible moves
Every single season has seemed to be nothing but a joke when talking about the Oakland Raiders as they was seemingly no hope for the future with an owner like Al Davis who has become progressively more senile with every passing year.

Not only has every move they have made since their Super Bowl appearance back in 2002 been a wrong one, but Al Davis always seems to butt heads with whatever head coach he decides to hire to lead this Oakland Raiders franchise.
With head coaching position been basically a revolving door in Oakland, the Raiders continued to bring in new head coaches on a regular basis which can only damage his franchise as the team without leadership is set to go nowhere.
This past NFL regular season turned out to be a breath of fresh air for the Oakland Raiders franchise though as they were finally able to finish the year with a .500 record at 8-8. Even though it looked like it was good possibility this team could be playoff bound, the Oakland Raiders came just short of the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West division despite beating them in the final game of the regular season.
Ironically enough, despite having the best season since 2002, Raiders owner Al Davis still decided to let go of his head coach Tom Cable. When it became apparent that Davis was going to get rid of Cable, the consensus on the team and around the league was that there was absolutely no reason for this, but as usual that means absolutely nothing to the outspoken owner and he got rid of the head coach anyway.

Since getting rid of Tom Cable, a lot of head coaches been hired around the league like Jim Harbaugh (San Francisco 49ers) and John Fox (Denver Broncos), but despite there being no lack of great options at the head-coaching position, the Oakland Raiders were the last team to make their decision on who would be leading this team next season.
Ultimately, Al Davis made a decision by promoting offensive coordinator Hue Jackson to head coach. There was a lot of speculation about who would be calling the shots on the Raiders’ sidelines, but Jackson has been the leading candidate the entire time as he seemingly has a good relationship with Davis (at least for the time being).
Obviously, Davis keeps his head coach is on a short leash and Jackson will almost certainly be no different, but there is no doubting that this Oakland Raiders team is much more talented than they have been a long time and could have a legitimate shot at winning the AFC West division title next season.
