NFL Week 6: Cleveland Browns @ OaklandRaiders

Cleveland Browns @ Oakland Raiders Sun. Oct. 16, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST

Coming into this NFL regular season, the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders were considered two teams on the rise in the AFC Conference that could be forces to be reckoned with in the near future. This could still be a distinct possibility with both teams being young and talented, but the Raiders have definitely been the team that has been more impressive thus far with a 3-2 record and a new attitude under head coach Hue Jackson.

The Cleveland Browns definitely have the potential to turn around their season before it gets too late, but they have struggled in the first five weeks of the season with a mediocre 2-2 record. Not only is their overall record disappointing considering how well they played during the preseason, but their two losses came at home.

Fortunately, in Week 6 the Cleveland Browns will be on the road traveling to the Bay Area to take on the Oakland Raiders, but they couldn’t have matched up against the Raiders on a worse work with the Oakland franchise coming home for the first time since the death of longtime owner Al Davis. With no doubt a lot of emotion surrounding the Oakland Raiders franchise this Sunday in the Bay Area, the Raiders could be incredible tough to play on both sides of the football this weekend.

Along with wanting to get the win in Oakland for their late owner, the Raiders are a very good football team this season and might be able to impose their will this weekend against a Cleveland Browns team that might be no match for them. The Browns have had a few high points already this season with second-year quarterback Colt McCoy having some decent performances and Pro Bowl running back Peyton Hillis getting the job on occasion, but they are definitely a flawed team on both sides of the football right now and could be one or two years away from competing with the best of the best in the AFC Conference.

The one thing that the Cleveland Browns defense will really struggle against this Sunday in Oakland will be the potent running game of the Raiders. With running back Darren McFadden having another Pro Bowl caliber year, the Raiders’ running game has been as advertised and arguably the best in the league coming into Week 6.

With that being said, the Raiders might just run the football all day long until the Browns figure out a way to stop McFadden and Michael Bush on the ground. Even if the Browns counter the Raiders rushing attack, Oakland is more than capable of getting the job done through the air this season with quarterback Jason Campbell playing much better than expected.

As of right now, the Oakland Raiders are favored to get the win in Week 6 with a -7 point spread. Solid spread in my opinion as the Raiders should win this one convincingly.

Take the Raiders -7.
