Can the Denver Broncos clinch a playoff spot in the AFC Conference?
The Denver Broncos came into this NFL regular season with much uncertainty surrounding the struggling NFL franchise. With Kyle Orton under center and a defense with young and inexperienced talent like rookie Von Miller, this was a promising football team, but not one that many people anticipated contending for a playoff spot in the AFC Conference.

Coming into Week 14, the Denver Broncos look much different than they did back in Week 1 with a new starting quarterback and arguably the best defense in the NFL. Rookie Von Miller has quickly turned into one of the best defensive players in the league and Tim Tebow has started to quite his critics with six wins in seven games as the Broncos’ starting quarterback.
There is no question that this team is pretty flawed on the offensive side of the football with an option offense that has been seldom seen in the NFL. Despite the unorthodox offense, the Broncos have been red-hot as of late and haven’t missed a beat since losing to the Detroit Lions earlier in the season. With Tebow looking like a legitimate Pro Bowler and Miller leading the defense alongside Elvis Dumervil and Champ Bailey, the Denver Broncos have gone from being one of the worst teams in the league this season into a playoff contender in the AFC Conference.
Not only do the Denver Broncos now have playoff aspirations, but after the impressive win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13 they have jumped to the top spot in the AFC West division ahead of the Oakland Raiders. With a 7-5 record, the Broncos can realistically make the playoffs and end the Raiders run as the top team in the AFC West division this season.
Things won’t get easier for the Denver Broncos from here on out as they will face the hungry Chicago Bears in Week 14 and the high-powered offense of the New England Patriots a week later. The Bears might not be the intimidating team they were a month ago with the recent injury to franchise quarterback and former Bronco Jay Cutler, but their defense is amongst the best in the league this year and will be a force to be reckoned with.
As for Week 15, the Denver Broncos will face arguably their toughest challenge of the season in the form of Tom Brady and company. Even though the Patriots’ defense is amongst the worst in the league and can’t seem to stop any opposing offenses, but New England offense is firing on all cylinders this season and will give the upgraded Denver defense a run for their money.

Another thing that will give the Denver Broncos an advantage moving forward is the fact that the Oakland Raiders who are coming off an ugly loss to the lowly Miami Dolphins will head to Lambeau Field this weekend to take on the undefeated Green Bay Packers. With a loss on the horizon for the Raiders, the Broncos might be able to gain a one-game lead over their arch division rivals.
