NFL Week 13: Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints
As arguably the most talented young team in the NFL, the Detroit Lions have a promising future with the current roster intact and firing on all cylinders. With Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Nick Fairly and Ndamukong Suh, the Lions are solid on both sides of the football and could be amongst the league’s elite in the coming years.

Even though the future looks bright in Detroit for this up-and-coming football team, the Lions are concentrated on the current season and whether or not they can contend for a playoff spot through the NFC Wild Card. With two spots available and a 7-4 record, Detroit has as solid shot of clinching one of the two spots in the NFC Conference, but they will have their hands full in the coming weeks as they must take on the red-hot New Orleans Saints in Week 13 and face the arch division rival Green Bay Packers for a second time in the last week of the NFL regular season.
With the competition not getting any easier and the Lions losing arguably their best defensive player in Ndamukong Suh (suspension) for the next two games, the margin of error is pretty small right now as every game from here on out is basically a must-win. There is no question that the Lions can probably afford to lose one or possibly even two games the rest of the way, but no team has that kind of mentality as every coach acts as if it is win or go home every single week.
In Week 13, the Detroit Lions will have to go on the road after a much-needed long week (last played on Thanksgiving Day) to face off against the resurgent New Orleans Saints at the Superdome. With the Saints playing the way they have over the past few weeks, there seems to be only one team in the league that can keep up with them offensively (Packers), but Drew Brees and company have been very streaky at times this season with some disappointing losses to the St. Louis Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Even though the Saints have been somewhat of a streaky football team at different times during this NFL regular season, when this squad is playing up to their potential on offense it is a scary sight for any opposing defense. With Suh out for this game, Drew Brees will have even more time to get this offense going against the Lions defense which means the Saints could put up another big number on the scoreboard in Week 13.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints are favored to beat the Detroit Lions in Week 13 with a -9 point spread. That spread is pretty high, but if any team besides the Packers is capable of destroying the Lions it is the Saints.
Take the Saints at -9.
