NFL Week 15: Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sat. Dec. 17, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST

The Dallas Cowboys have begun to fall apart once again in the month of December with Tony Romo and company losing two straight due to missed field goals with time expiring against the Arizona Cardinals (19-13 OT) and the division rival New York Giants (37-34). These two games were crucial for the Cowboys with Dallas being atop the standings in the NFC East division and the Giants creeping up.

With the loss to the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys have fallen to second place in the NFC East and could be in danger of missing the playoffs although. It’s amazing what a difference on game can make as the Cowboys looked like they had finally gotten over the hump and were ready to give the best of the best in the NFC Conference all they can handle in the playoffs.

Fortunately, the Cowboys can get back on track this week as they will be going head-to-head against the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night. Even though this game is on the road, the Bucs have failed to live up to expectations this season and have struggled week in and week out. With the playoffs out of the realm of possibility for Josh Freeman and company, the Bucs will be playing for pride from here on out.

Despite being out of playoff contention, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still a very dangerous team this season and have given two of the best teams in the league arguably their toughest challenges. With a win over the red-hot division rival New Orleans Saints earlier in the season and giving the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers arguably their toughest test of the season, the Bucs are capable of being any team in the league on any given Sunday or Saturday in this case.

The major drawback in this Week 15 matchup for America’s Team is that this will be the first game without up-and-coming running back DeMarco Murray. With Felix Jones taking over as the starting running back for the Cowboys once again, Dallas might struggle on the offensive side of the football with superstar quarterback Tony Romo having to do everything offensively to get this team over the top against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Not only will the Bucs have the advantage on knowing that the Cowboys will be a one dimensional offense on Saturday night in Tampa Bay, but this game also be played at home for the Bucs and that also gives them a bit of an edge in Week 15. There is no question that the Cowboys are the better all-around football team at this point, but the Bucs definitely have the ability to pull off the upset.

As of right now, the Dallas Cowboys have the edge in the point spread with a -7 point spread. Even though the Cowboys will come out on top, this will be a tough game that could come down to the wire.

Take the Bucs at +7.
