NFL Sports Injuries Going Into Week 8

NFL football injuries Week 8

As we are going into the NFL Week 8 football games, there are a lot of players getting sidelined due to injuries. With almost half of the season over with, most teams will not perform as well due to their star players having to sit out a week, a month, or even for the rest of the season. As some of the teams with losing records need to start getting wins, and this week would be a great start, some just recently lost players. Here are some of the injuries that have occurred during Week 7 of the season:

Player Team Injury
RB Arian Foster Texans Torn Achilles Tendon
QB Matthew Stafford Lions Left Hand
T Jason Peters Eagles Lower Back
LB Ryan Kerrigan Redskins Broken Hand
WR Louis Murphy Buccaneers Torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Knee
C Nick Mangold Jets Broken Hand
S Calvin Pryor Jets Sprained Ankle
QB Josh McCown Browns Shoulder
WR Phillip Dorsett Colts Fractured Fibula
RB Joseph Randle Cowboys Oblique Strain
CB Jason McCourty Titans Hamstring
DE Cameron Wake Dolphins Torn Achilles
T Ja’Wuan James Dolphins Toe

Some of these players, including Arian Foster, Ryan Kerrigan, Louis Murphy, Phillip Dorsett, and Cameron Wake will be out for the rest of the season due to their injuries being severe enough to merit months of recovery and possible surgery. The Lions losing their quarterback is big blow, as they are set to face the Chiefs this Sunday; a great opportunity to finally get their second season victory, but looking grimmer without Stafford.

During the Thursday Night Football in Week 8, the Dolphins lost 36-7 against the Patriots, and in the process lost two great players to injuries. With Wake being a huge playmaker during Week’s 6 and 7, this will continue to take its toll on the franchise. Let’s hope injuries stay at a minimum during the rest of the NFL Week 8 games.
