Can the New Orleans Saints pull off the repeat?
Unlike other professional sports leagues in this country (NBA, NHL, MLB, etc), repeating as Super Bowl champions is no easy task in the NFL as injuries run rampant and every other team in league always circles the date when they get the chance to take down the defending Super Bowl champions.
With every team in the league gunning for the defending champs during the NFL regular season, the New Orleans Saints have had to face off against teams they give it their all every single week as a win over a Super Bowl champion can be just what the team needs to turn things around or make a statement that they are for real.

Even though the New Orleans Saints lost some games they definitely should’ve won during the regular season against teams like the Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Cardinals, Drew Brees and company were able to quickly turn things around when things started take a turn for the worst this year and were able to make their way back into the playoffs to defend their title.
Fortunately, the Saints have been able to fly relatively under the radar as of late with teams like the New England Patriots, New York Jets and the division rival Atlanta Falcons stealing the headlines. This is nothing but good news for the defending champs as flying under the radar is exactly what a team like the Saints wants to do when trying to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Despite not getting the kind of attention the defending Super Bowl champion normally gets, the Saints have really started to thrive heading into the playoffs and even though they didn’t win the NFC South division title which went to the Falcons, New Orleans seems to have a legitimate shot at winning a second straight ring as they are firing on all cylinders heading into Wild-card weekend.

The first round of the playoffs for the New Orleans Saints might be a bit easier than they expected as they will face off against the Seattle Seahawks were able to barely get into the playoffs with a losing record of 7-9. There is no question that sets up that ultimate underdog story which would be all over the headlines if they did beat the defending champs, the chances are Saints will cruise to victory and into the second round.
After the Saints get past the Seahawks, the competition gets considerably tougher as they will have to face off against teams like the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears or the Atlanta Falcons.
Despite there being extremely tough competition after the first round of the playoffs, I believe head coach Sean Payton and company are up to the task and could very well be Super Bowl bound once again.
Whether or not the New Orleans Saints can contend with the likes of the New England Patriots, who are favored to go the distance, remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t count out this team as they are playing as good as any team in the league right now.
