Arian Foster likely ready to play against Miami Dolphins

Heading into the NFL regular season, the Houston Texans were ecstatic to hear that four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts would not be able to start against them in Week 1. Manning going through a slow recovery for neck surgery was definitely a positive for the Texans, but even though they wouldn’t have to face one of the best quarterbacks of all-time right out of the gate, Houston would be without one of the league’s best running back in Arian Foster.

During training and the NFL preseason, Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster suffered an injury to his hamstring not once but twice and was doubtful for Week 1. Well, even though the Texans didn’t have the league’s leading rusher in their backfield against the Colts, Houston came out on top in convincing fashion, 34-7.

In Week 2, the Houston Texans will travel to South Beach in order to take on the Miami Dolphins. This game would be a bit of a struggle with quarterback Matt Schaub coming off a less than impressive performance against the Colts, but the Texans will have Foster back healthy and ready to take the bulk of the carries in the running game.

This is great news for the Houston Texans as they had already gotten off to a hot start with a win over their division rivals in Week 1 and will be the favorites to do the same against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.

Much like the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins are great running team with running backs Reggie Bush and Larry Johnson coming out of the backfield. Last week the running game did take somewhat of a backseat to the passing game as quarterback Chad Henne has arguably the best performance of his NFL career with 475 total yards (416 passing, 59 rushing) and three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) against the New England Patriots.

Obviously, these stats are a little inflated as it was against a pitiful Patriots defense, but Henne may have started to turn the corner and the Dolphins could become more of a passing team as a result.

In the meantime, the Miami Dolphins defense will have the toughest assignment on Sunday as they will have to stop one of the best running backs in the league in Arian Foster. What makes Foster one of the best backs in the league is due to the potent passing game of the Texans and Schaub’s ability to get everyone involved through the air.

It will be interesting to see how well Arian Foster plays this weekend as this hamstring injury could be something that flares up quite a bit this season. Hopefully, for the sake of the Texans offense, Foster will be able to get back to form while leading Houston to a second straight win in as many weeks.
