Chad Ochocinco tweet doesn’t sit well with former Patriot Teddy Bruschi

Before the beginning of this NFL regular season, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knew that he was taking a risk by acquiring outspoken Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals, but with the three-time Super Bowl champion having a reputation for rehabilitating troubled players this was a risk he was willing to take.

A lot of people were surprised by the acquisition of Ochocinco, but it did seem like a fairly smart decision considering that the Patriots needed to replace the downfield threat that they lost after trading Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings last season. Despite the logic of brining in a perennial Pro Bowl wideout, there were NFL analysts that had their doubts about Ochocinco being successful in New England like former Patriots linebacker Teddy Bruschi.

In Week 1, the New England Patriots had a relatively easy task ahead of them as they were set to face off against the division rival Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins were improved on defense and made some additions on offense during the off-season that could prove to be a difference maker this season, but the consensus was that Miami would get dominated by New England in Week 1.

The New England Patriots did ultimately dominate the division rival Miami Dolphins and get an unbelievable record-breaking performance out of reigning NFL MVP quarterback Tom Brady who threw for 517 yards and four touchdowns, but Chad Ochocinco had little to do with Brady’s record numbers or the win as he finished with just one catch for 15 yards in his debut with the Patriots.

Even though Ochocinco didn’t play a big role in the Patriots win over the Dolphins in Week 1, the outspoken wide receiver had only good things to say about his team and their performance with the following tweet:

“Just waking up after a late arrival, I’ve never seen a machine operate like that n person, to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW.”

This tweet was pretty harmless in my opinion and uncharacteristic of Chad Ochocinco after making just one catch in his debut, but former New England Patriot Teddy Bruschi thought this tweet was the beginning of bad things to come from the new Patriots wideout by saying the following:

“You’re not someone who’s on another team or watching TV,” Bruschi said. “You’re not an analyst. You’re a part of it. They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you’re not getting it and you’re tweeting because you’re saying, ‘It’s amazing to see’? It’s amazing to see because you don’t understand it. You still don’t understand it and it’s amazing to you because you can’t get it.

“Wake up! If you’re just waking up now — I don’t know when this was, six minutes ago? — get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think it’s amazing. If you’re in it and you know what you’re doing and you execute out there, you don’t think it’s amazing. You know why? Because it’s what you’re supposed to do.”

Personally, this is uncalled for and way out of line by Teddy Bruschi. This is just the first game for Chad Ochocinco and he had nothing but good things to say about his new team, so honestly there is no harm done, but Bruschi seems way over-the-top and opinionated about something that didn’t even need to be addressed.
