Bad News For New Orleans NFL Team; Brees Ruled Out
During the NFL Week 3 games, it seems that the sports team New Orleans Saints won’t have their star quarterback on the field, Drew Brees, as they get ready to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. This would not have been such bad news if it were not for the fact that the Saints are 0-2, and could really benefit from a win on the road early on in the season.
Saints coach Sean Payton did announce on Friday that Brees would not be playing on Sunday, as he would be dealing with a shoulder injury he sustained during last week’s game and loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“Drew Brees will be out for this game,” Payton said. “He’ll travel, and I think just where he’s at in the rehab and his strength, that he felt, and we all felt like it would be too early for him to play this weekend. I would say next week we’ll continue the process, and without trying to make an estimation about his return, we felt like he made progress without the week, and yet he’s not where he needs to be or where we feel comfortable with the strength that he needs. But he did get better each day and we’ll just see where he’s at next week.”
It does not sound as serious as many would think, but hopefully Brees is able to return in top shape and health in order to try and recover from a losing streak. Fans, as well as sportsbooks are not placing a lot of faith into the Saints team, as the Panthers get a (-360) on the line, and a (-8) spread, and as things are now, it does not look good for the Saints.
Let’s hope that Brees will return stronger than ever, but sooner rather than later, as the sports team struggles to get their first victory during this 2015 NFL season.
