Carson Palmer asks Cincinnati Bengals to trade him
The Cincinnati Bengals came into this past NFL regular season with high hopes of defending their AFC North division title and possibly making it all the way to the Super Bowl. With the addition of Pro Bowl wide receiver Terrell Owens alongside another very talented receiver in Chad Ochocinco, the Bengals offense was considered to be amongst the best in the league.
Along with adding T.O. to the receiving corps alongside Ochocinco, former Heisman trophy winning quarterback Carson Palmer was healthy once again and ready to lead this team to another successful season. Unfortunately, the complete opposite happen as the Cincinnati Bengals headed into a downward spiral that resulted in a season that ended with a 4-12 record and a last place finish in the AFC North division.

Needless to say, the revamped offense of the Bengals turned out to be a disaster. Terrell Owens may have had one of his best seasons in a long time, the Bengals will most likely release him in the off-season. Chad Ochocinco on the other hand seems to be coming back for at least one more season, but there has been a lot of friction between head coach Marvin Lewis and the outspoken wide receiver
Cincinnati Bengals have no intention of releasing Chad Ochocinco or pursuing a trade, but the former Pro Bowler has expressed interest in playing for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
Personally, I believe the Cincinnati Bengals are a sinking ship on the verge of a serious rebuilding process that will most likely start the rookie quarterback will be drafted in the next couple of seasons or in this upcoming draft if they choose to trade Carson Palmer for draft picks.

There’s no question that when this team is flying in a high level they are amongst the best in the league, especially on the offensive side of the football, but they just can’t play consistently well and are in need of some serious retooling. So if they don’t decide to rebuild this team and start the clean slate, the Bengals could turn into one of the worst teams in the league over the next couple years and get nothing for their star players while they still have value.
As for Carson Palmer, he will most likely end up elsewhere, but whether or not he still has anything left in the tank remains to be seen. If the former Heisman Trophy winner ends up with a team with absolutely no talent in their receiving corps, Palmer will ultimately retire as yet another failure out of USC.
